A single ticket won the Mega Millions jackpot of March 26, 2024. The lucky winner scoops $1.13 BILLION and becomes New Jersey’s biggest Mega Millions winner.

He won the 5th largest jackpot in Mega Millions history & the 8th largest Jackpot in lottery history.

The lucky player will now have to come forward and choose between the annual payments or the $537.5 Million lump-sum payment.

This draw saw many other winners, including no less than 12 winners (CA,CO,FL x2,GA x2,IL,IN,MI,NY x2,OH) of the $1 Million Mega Millions prize. A player from New York also won the second prize but had selected the Megaplier option on his ticket and therefore will receive $2 Million instead of $1 Million.

The jackpot of the Mega Millions soared to a new record when it reached $1,602 Billion on August 8, 2023. It is actually one of the largest prizes in U.S. history!

The winning Mega Millions ticket, which was purchased at a Publix grocery store in Neptune Beach, was the only one of the more than 7 million winning tickets in that draw (all Mega Millions prize levels!) featuring every one of the winning numbers. The winning numbers drawn that night were 13, 19, 20, 32, 33 and the Mega Ball 14.

Seven tickets also won the second prize. Out of those 7 tickets, 2 had opted for the Megaplier, this means that they won $2 Million instead of $1 Million.

The employees of the Publix were the ticket was sold hoped luck had struck one of them. The conversation at work the very next morning started like this:

“Mary, did you win the billion dollars?”

To which, Mary answered:

“Nope, and I assume you didn’t, either,”

They definitely checked the Mega Millions results after hearing that the ticket was sold at their shop.

The winner or group of winners owning that lucky ticket has 180 days, from the day of the draw, to come forward in Tallahassee and claim their prize.

James F. Davis, secretary of the Florida Lottery declared: “These individuals are going to perhaps contact a lawyer, contact a financial adviser and make sure they get their ducks in a row,” to which he added: “Because as you know when you are a winner you have an opportunity to be able to make such a difference in so many individual lives.”

If the Mega Millions winner chooses the annuity option, they would receive the $1.602 Billion prize over 30 years. However, most people opt for a one-time payment, which is estimated at $794.2 Million.

The Mega Millions jackpot has grown to $1.348 Billion after 25 rollovers before finally being scooped on January 13, 2023. This historic draw, which took place on a Friday the 13^th, was a lucky draw for the owner(s) of the single winning ticket.

Indeed, only one Mega Millions ticket purchased at a Hometown Gas & Grill in Lebanon (Maine) featured all the winning numbers: 30-43-45-46-61 & Mega Ball 14. This ticket brings the Mega Millions jackpot to Maine for the first time.

Fourteen players also came close as they guessed all the main numbers but not the Mega Ball, which means they won the Mega Millions second prize of $1 Million. Sadly none of these players had ticked the Megaplier option, which would have doubled their prize.

Even though we are impatient to learn more about the owner(s) of this Friday the 13^th lucky ticket, it may take a while as the claim can be made in a year. It may also be that we won’t learn much more as Mega Millions winners can claim their prize under a trust in Maine. We will have to wait and see…

On October 14, 2022, two tickets sold in California and Florida featured all winning numbers for a jackpot that reached half a Billion dollars! The lucky winners of the (estimated) $502 Million jackpot will split the amount in two.

The Mega Millions winner from California purchased his winning ticket at a San Jose convenience store. The store, owned by the same family since 1897, sells around 800 to 900 lottery tickets every single day. Nonetheless, this is definitely the biggest win from one of their clients. The convenience store will also get a $1 Million bonus for selling the jackpot-winning ticket. However, the owner declared that she will share some of the bonus money with her community.

The other winning Mega Millions ticket was purchased at a 7-Eleven in Fort Myers, Florida; an area that was heavily hit by Hurricane Ian a month previously. The lucky owner became Florida’s third Mega Millions jackpot winner! The retailer will receive a $100,000 bonus commission as well.

Overall, there were 1,054,198 winning tickets sold for that drawing only: strong sales in the closing hours before the drawing brought us this fascinating amount. Three tickets also brought the second prize to some players that matched all 5 main numbers but not the Mega Ball. One of these players, from Texas, had the inspiration to add the Mega Millions Megaplier to his ticket. This means he scooped $2 Million instead of $1 Million! The winning numbers of the drawing were: 09-22-26-41-44/19.

As both states do not allow lottery winners to remain anonymous, we will probably learn more about these lucky players when they will come forward to claim their Mega Millions prize.
